What a week! Thank you to all of you who have reached out to me with respect to HOL. It's seriously incredible. I've had so many people ask me exactly what we do (which makes sense because I don't think I have ever stated exactly what we do), and I wanted to take this post to do exactly that:
I should start by saying that, second to law school and the Florida Bar, my wedding planning was the most stressful time of my life when it came down to details. Yes, I'm Type A, and yes, i'm a control freak (obviously), but that also makes me really good at DETAILS. For example, I had a lot of trouble finding someone that would take care of menu design, ceremony program design, place cards, table signs, guest book, gift card box (I found this a week before the wedding, i swear and am pretty sure i paid for like one day shipping), I can go on and on with respect to "how to make a wedding tie together with details" but I could fill this entire page with information. I did find people thanks to etsy (I am and will always be a huge etsy fan - HOL etsy page up and running soon) but that took a whole lot of searching and a whole lot of hoping the creative would all cohesively tie together. And then became House of Lilac. The name i simply and honestly loved. It fit. It was fancy, beautiful, clean, and very me.
My wedding planner (she will always be my wedding planner even though the wedding, unfortunately, is a figment of the past) thankfully saw the creative in me and started recommending clients - lo and behold, HOL became a legitimate business (a legal business entity and everything) and here we are.
My main focus is detail stationary - menus, programs, name cards, table place cards, thank yous, monograms and literally anything that can remotely be put on paper. Our biggest plus is that we design everything to fit a theme (your wedding theme), personalize all of it so that it's exactly what you want, and seek your approval because, hey, it's meant to be and should be the happiest day ever, in every respect.
The website will sooner than later have more wonderful things to purchase but I definitely have to start somewhere. Thank you, thank you to everyone that has liked my instagram, read this blog, liked me on Facebook, and given HOL a chance at life. It means more to me than you know.
I really aim to make this as much a lifestyle blog as an advertising work and retail blog. So please, please let us know what it is you really want to see us make, create, what you think is lacking in event detail websites and how we can better serve you! I was a bride once and I remember that the most attentive vendors always won my heart. We want to do that for you and in turn want to learn a little more about all of you brides and what it is exactly that you desire for your big day.
For the record, we aren't trying to center our ideas on only weddings - I actually have a fabulous baby shower for my soon to be born nephew we're contributing to in June (stay tuned for those adorable pictures). We want to spread our ideas and happiness everywhere and anywhere we can (weddings, babies, parties - when are people ever happier?).
